The Great Hebrides Trip

Way back in the mists of time, pre covid at least, we discussed plans for our holidays. It was decided that we would go to the Outer Hebrides. Much discussion then followed as to wether we should camp, bothy, 5 star hotel etc..... until we came up with the idea of a motorhome. John set about research into renting a motorhome and eventually found one at a reasonable price and suitable location to collect it from and so it was booked.
Then came Covid and it looked like the plan could be in jepoardy, an anxious wait followed but eventually things calmed down, phew. The ferry was then booked, an excellent Island Hop ticket from Cal-Mac ferries. The best route was to go to Oban, cross to Barra, drive North to Stornoway and return to Ullapool.
A busy Saturday ensued, Euan kayaking, John buying a new bike, Wendy shopping and collecting the motorhome, in the rain. The afternoon was spent loading the motorhome, in the rain.
Sunday, it had stopped raining, yippee. A steady run across to Oban for the ferry saw arrive in good time. It was great being able to make a cup of tea on the quayside whilst waiting. An uneventful but long ferry crossing saw us land on Barra. A steady run round the island got us to our campsite without an hassle. Plugged in and cooked dinner.
Monday. We toured the island before catching another ferry, to Eriskay, which then enabled us to drive onto South Uist.
To be continued............
